Park Tennis Sunday · Issue 005

A note from Joshua

This week I have been working on the upcoming Brands section of Park Tennis, and it has been inspiring to see all the different ways people are expressing the game. From Vibe Tennis shirts to workman’s jackets to neon colors, there is a corner of tennis that has moved far, far away from tennis whites, and I’m here for it.

I see the same thing on the public courts around my neighborhood. Tennis has a way of bringing out people you might never have recognized as tennis players. The swing may leave something to be desired. The Def Leppard shirt is definitely a vibe.

The Park Tennis Take

Rich Sport Mantra Grip Bands in pink, orange, and blue with short on-court affirmations.

richsport Mantra Grip Bands

A $15 USD three-pack of pink, orange, and blue grip bands printed with “have fun,” “inhale / exhale,” and “here + now.”

The walk back to the baseline gives you plenty of time to replay the miss, question your forehand, and forget this was supposed to be fun. These little bands sit at the top of the grip with three better ideas. Pick the reminder your brain is least likely to supply on its own. Look down, take the hint, play the next point.

The light-blue long-sleeve tee turns Vibe Tennis into an international sportswear federation where the playlist matters as much as the rankings.

One question before you go

What is the least tennis-looking thing you have ever worn to play tennis?

Hit reply and tell me. Good recommendations have a habit of arriving from the next court over.

That’s enough gear for one Sunday.
See you at the courts,
