A note from Joshua

Toronto this week reminded me that Milos Raonic has traded the tour for private equity at Goldman Sachs. He always looked like the fashionable professional on court. Now he is one of us: a 9-to-5 road warrior carrying a laptop, a racquet, and an outfit expected to work harder than either.

I picked three elevated pieces for whatever city or country club he lands at. But let’s imagine he is fully committed and taking client meetings at the local park. Waiting for a court leaves a little extra time to discuss the deal. 😏 Most of these athletes will be going pro in something other than sports.

Model wearing the JACQUES Natural Tennis Polo in olive.

JACQUES Natural Tennis Polo

Made in New York from 94% lyocell and 6% elastane, the $175 USD polo has raglan sleeves, a tailored sports collar, tonal rubberized buttons, and an open-vent hem.

Private equity may not require a tennis polo, but this is what you wear when the first meeting is across a desk and the second is across a net. The collar and tonal buttons keep it professional. The raglan sleeves remember you may actually have to hit. At $175, it is less office casual than courtside business formal. Milos can expense it. You probably cannot.

Double Take NYC Tennis Backpack

A laptop sleeve, separate shoe compartment, and room for racquets turn it into a mobile office for the working road warrior who still needs to be ready when a court opens.

The Inner Game of Tennis

The Inner Game of Tennis is about relaxed concentration and getting out of your own way, which turns out to be useful whether the pressure is break point or basis points.

One question before you go

What has tennis taught you that you use away from the court?

Hit reply and tell me. Good recommendations have a habit of arriving from the next court over.

That’s enough gear for one Sunday.
