The Sunday edit

Trick or Treat, See You on Court

A control-minded racquet, white strings, and a first racquet for the kid joining the rally.

A note from Joshua

Halloween on a Saturday is a full-day event. My kids ate more candy than I thought possible, and we ended the night watching Casper on a projector at our block party.

I spotted a few tennis costumes, but my favorite was a young family: two tennis players and their infant dressed as a tennis ball. Early parenting can definitely feel like a rally. Hope you all made it through the night. Between the candy, the parties, and the late bedtime, there was more than one reason the courts looked empty this morning.

Prince Phantom 100X 305g (2024)

A 100-square-inch racquet with a thin frame and an open 16×18 string pattern.

The name gets it into this week's edit. The reason to look closer is the feel: Tennis Warehouse's playtesters praised its soft response, spin, and control, while noting limited power and some instability. If you like to bring your own pace, this one is worth a demo before you commit.

One question before you go

What's the shot that still haunts you?

Hit reply and tell me. Good recommendations have a habit of arriving from the next court over.

That’s enough gear for one Sunday.
